5k in 21:30 Minutes

This past weekend I thought I'd support my job at the YWCA and run the 5k. It was a fundraiser put on by the YWCA and the U of U Physicians for Humans Rights. It wasn't as organized as I would have liked but it was fun. There was a bunch of really competitive guys, it was funny to watch them warm up. It was pretty much all an uphill run. Event though it was only 3 miles my thighs were killing me! It was a fun run/walk meant to funraise so no wonder I placed 15 out of 109 people.
I've been running a lot more since I made a post on the Craigslist requesting female running buddies. I have yet to run with someone who really pushes me yet though. I'm excited to run the Ogden Half-Marathon (13 miles) and continue traing for a full Marathon (26.5 miles). My husband has ran a couple times with me and he is really good...too bad he hates it. My little brother Steve plans to run the Ogden with me, we'll see if he makes it because hasn't trained at all. I'm taking him on a ten mile run this weekend:)

Estoy Agradecido por...

Lately I've been stressing out...I think I've inherited that from my Dad. I just want things to be picture perfect and to go as planned. I wanted my husband to get into Medical school, I want my old car to run smoothly, I want ....I want...but I realize that I need to be content and recognize the blessingst that I have in my life. I'm thankful for my wonderful husband who loves me and my family. I'm thankful that we will have another year with family before we move off to who know's where. I'm especially thankful that I served a mission. I know that is random to include but it was an experience that was necessary for my spiritual growth. I was able learn the gosple and a new language. Yesterday I had to take one of my clients to the Multicultural Legal Center. While we were there they mentioned that the Visa process will have to be prolonged (again) because they were waiting for a translated copy of the affidavit. I offered to translate the document and afterwards they offered me a job on the spot. I was so excited because I can work from home and make muchisimo dinero an hour. Honestly all the job's I've been offered since I graduated from college have been offered to me because I speak spanish. My husband said they love my personality but I believe that my bi-lingual abilities is what gets me in. We are blessed! Now I can gain experience and see if law school is what I really want to persue. Soy bendecida!

How much is that doggy in the window?

Lately I've been a little paranoid to run outdoors. I did my research and we have a lot of sex offenders in our area. I don't want to live my life in fear so I still run outdoors I'm just more careful about the time of day.
My husband isn't into running at all and has been wanting a dog since we got married. He thinks it will be a great protector. Too bad will live in a mini apartment. My husband plans to approach our landlord about our desire...we'll see how that goes. If not we'll have wait another year. We still haven't heard back from the medical schools that Derek has been waitlisted. We may be here for another year:)

I ran the 10 miler in 1:41

I did it! I finished my first race to kick off the season. When my husband drove me up Emigration Canyon to the start of the race, I was surprised at how long it was. I kept thinking "What did I get myself into?" The last long run I did was in 2005. I needed to run this race to motivate myself to continue training for a marathon.
a scenic run. The lake was frozen and their was still snow throughout the canyons, it was freezings during some parts of the run but I was bundled up in my dry weave running gear. I finished in 1:41. I honestly thought I was the last one because It seemed like everyone passed me up. Once I got to the finish line I notice that their was still swarms of people coming after me. That run has inspired me to train a lot more. I've just been working 60 hours a week so I haven't had as much time. Once May 2nd rolls around I'll be finished with my full time job and I'll have a lot more time to train.
I'm so sore today, hopefully it won't be so bad tomorrow.
Pictures to come soon.

Medical School...

Ever feel like your working hard but no one recognizes your potential? This week we recieved two letters from medical schools in Kentucky and one in Florida. No, we didn't get an interview. My husband has concluded that we won't get in this year. I hate to see him so down, I still have hope that he will get into medical school but it may not be this year. It has been the craziest year and that is my justification for why we may not get in. My medical bills have been such a burden, it has prolonged the application process because you need mucho dinero to apply in the first place.
Lately, I've been thinking that maybe it isn't the right time. I would hate to agree to go to a school just because we were accepted. What if we hated it? Throughout my life the Lord has blessed me on his timetable not my own. I know that he knows where we need to be so I've put my faith in him. I was looking forward to my husband starting medical school ( the sooner he starts, the sooner we get to have babies!) but I'm ok with sticking around for one more year if it is the Lords will.
