We're loving all the curls on this little boys head. He has little streaks of blond highlights just like his daddy.
He can say:
"Shoe"-"patos" (zapatos)
"Shhhhhh" with his finger up to his mouth
"Dank u" -thank you
He prefers to grab our hand and lead us around the house to point out things rather than talk.
"oh!" while wildly shaking his head to tell us no
He's got four molars coming in along with his K9's. He'll be 18 months soon, we are so excited to put him in primary so that we can enjoy lessons in church.
He has become picky with food textures. Most days he will happily eat raisins, yogurt, apple sauce, a variety of fruit , cereal and bread. On good days he will eat a few bits of chicken and pork. Don't let his size fool you, he is picky!
He loves this little car, he is so happy when I let him ride it outside. It has been a mild winter, so we've enjoyed playing outside.
He's a climber, my anxiety level has jumped a few notches since he started jumping off of furniture.
He loves to sing, whenever we sing in church he tries to out-sing everyone around us and he is so loud! We love to hear his little voice. We've replaced story time before bed with singing primary hymns and Christmas songs.
He's still in the 95% for height and weight.
We love him so much, we are so excited to celebrate Christimas with him this year!
We went to our 4 month scheduled Dr. Visit earlier last week. Acalias weighs a whopping 19 lbs 14 oz and 27 inches long! He is in the 97% for both height and weight and 99% for head circumference. I was concerned but the Doctor said that Acalias is perfectly healthy. I've already had to pack away some of his smaller clothes, now I'm having to pack even more. He is currently wearing 9 months to 24 month clothes. I'm hoping his weight gain will slow down, just 3 more lbs and we'll have to buy him a new car seat. I never thought I'd have to buy a bigger car seat at just 4 months.
He is so smiley and is as happy as can be. He loves it when we sing to him, his little giggles are so fun to hear.

Tummy torture time isn't so torturous when he's having a conversation with dad.
We've discovered that if the TV is on he is glued, I think he likes the colors. I put on Dora the Explorer and he seemed to enjoy it.
He likes to play with anything that makes a sound.
Acalias likes when I play with his little toes. In this picture, I'm telling him that he has stinky feet and he thinks its so hillarious to see mom make a face at his smelly feet.
He learning so much, he learns quickly. He mimicks just about anything Dad does with his mouth. He sticks his little tounge out, tries to blow and can babble "Da dah dah dah".
This past Sunday, I had to take him out of class because he was laughing so hard he was a distraction to the class. We have some video footage of him laughing, I'll include it in the next post.
Acalias and I spent 9 days in San Francisco with my mom. I had to keep the secret for three long months but it was so worth seeing her reaction. It was as if she had won a million dollars. I love seeing how my mom interacts with Acalias, she loves him so much.
From the time I arrived, until the time I departed Acalias spent the majority of the time in Grandmas arms. Good thing we have a swing and other bouncy toys for him at home, otherwise we would go crazy feeling like we need to hold him all the time. When I visit Mom, I typically visit my mission but this time I spent the majority of the time with mom. We visited the Golden Gate Park and Bakers Beach (both of which I had never visited before). I met up with a couple of my close college friends as well. It’s crazy to think back to my college days. I made great friends, and I’m glad that we have kept in contact with each other; I have so many great memories with them. Jolynn and I shared two classes together at the U of U. We studied for tests together and became great friends. I can’t believe that we are both mothers now:)
Umu and I were in the Pacific Islander Student Association. We traveled to San Diego to support our basketball team and Tonga to present our research together.
It was great to catch up with both of these ladies, they inspire me.
Mom received a second surprise on Friday morning. Mom would typically take me to the San Mateo shoreline trail to run while she walked with Acalias. On Friday I told her that I preferred to walk around the neighborhood. I had planned with my siblings for them to be at the door once she opened it. Surprise! I was so jittery that I missed the bulk of it when I tried to record it. Then when I finally got my camera on, I was so excited to see everyone that the footage is of the wall and floor as I made my rounds hugging everyone.
Watching my nephews interact with Acalias was priceless, Audric was happy to sing Acalias a song in this next video.
Unfortunately, it rained the entire weekend that my siblings were in town. Derek flew in on Saturday and presented at the AOA Conference on Sunday morning. We thought it would be nice to support him until we found out that it would cost $150 dollars just to get into the conference. We made due by playing card games, puzzles and coloring. We had fun catching up, I hadn’t seen my siblings since last November and Derek hadn’t seen them since last July. I’m super excited to go home and spend more time with my siblings in December.

The weather cleared up the last few days that we were there, just on time for the AOA 5k on Tuesday morning. It was cold so we left Acalias with Grandma.
I also had my mom take family pictures of us at the beach. These are a couple of our favorites along with the new header picture we have up above.
We had a wonderful time with mom, it was hard to say goodbye.
Our flight was scheduled late, our total travel time would be 12 hours. Acalias slept the majority of the time, thank goodness. When I realized our layover in Atlanta,Georgia would be 4 hours, I called my sisters and invited them to come and meet their nephew. It was so good to see them, I hadn't seen them since their graduation in May 2009.

Acalias had a beautiful blessing on Sunday. We took a lot of pictures for all of you at home to see how handsome he was. Dad getting Acalias ready, I love watching the two of them together. Acalias has started to coo and so he and his daddy were having a conversation when this picture was taken. Finnally, a smile. We love seeing him and his great big smiles, it makes us so happy. It was a special day on Sunday, we really can't believe how fast he is growing. It seems like we just brought him home from the hospital. When his dad held him up high for the congregation to see him, I felt so much joy. Acalias has brought us so much happiness. We will strive to raise him so that he grows up to be an honorable young man, one who will always be close to his Heavenly Father. We love him so much. We took a few pictures outside of our home, we have a two second delay on our camera remote but it was hard to get Acalias to look ahead rather than follow our voices. Proud father.

We planned a weekend get away to several sites that Derek is interested in for rotations. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Medical school curriculum, Derek will have all of his class work completed by June. The upcoming two years will be spent rotating with a doctor(observing & performing procedures). Students can fulfill their rotations anywhere with in the state of West Virginia. We would both like to live in a bigger city so we visited Parkersburg, Wheeling & Clarksburg. Parkersburg actually had sidewalks! It still seemed a bit small to me but Derek toured both hospitals and seemed impressed. I was happy to learn that the nearest temple is in Columbus, Ohio only 2 hours away rather than 5 hours we usaully travel to the D.C temple:) Wheeling is located in between Ohio and Pensylvania. The area the hospital was located in reminded me of of my mission in Oakland, California...so I'm not too giddy about that site selection. I think I'd worry too much especially if Derek was working really late into the night in that area. We talked to several locals who advised us of areas to stay away from, great neighborhoods to live in and so forth. Here we are at a rest stop in Ohio on our way to Wheeling.
Clarksburg has a brand new hospital that hasn't opened yet. The area seems comfortable and diverse. We stopped by their Italian festival while we were there, I hadn't see so many people in one location since I attended the state fair last year.
Acalias did really well for his first trip. He cried only when he was hungry or needed to be changed, otherwise he was sleeping or grinning at me. I'm hoping that our trip to Utah will be just as smooth.
This week Acalias and I went to his two month check up. I had estimated that he weighed 12 pounds but I was wrong. He weighs 14 lbs 10 oz and he's 23 inches long. He's above the 95% in both his height and weight. No wonder my back aches so much after carring him for long periods of time. His eye lashes seem to be growing longer too, they take after his daddys. It's so unfair that boys always have such lovely eye lashes He still thinks that he is number one...and for the most part he is. I managed to complete one of the sewing projects that I had on my list. My best friend vacations in Hawaii every year and she always brings me something back. This year she sent me fabric and I made Acalias a car seat cover. The velcro straps on the carrying bar keep it in place. It's lined with canvass so when it's windy, raining or cold he can stay nice and cozy. We've decided that it essential, especially when it comes to overly friendly people at the grocery store.
