We MOVED!

The moving crew!

These our pics from another day, I need to get a wire for my camera so I can upload pictures from the actual event.

We moved out of our 1920’s built 300 sq foot apartment. It was a tiny cozy apartment BUT we realized that we didn’t want to swelter in the heat in the summer and freeze in the winter again! The manager’s lack of professionalism didn’t help either.
We still live in Salt Lake, we love the area. Our new apartment is a lot bigger and we have a porch for our future puppy! I get to do my aerobics and run on my treadmill without hearing the neighbors below me pound on the ceiling.
Thanks to my family we were out of our apartment in 1.5 days. My hubby had to work during the transition but we still got our stuff out. Now we need to make our new place a home. Suggestions anyone? I’ve been looking at Martha Stewart’s websites to get some ideas. We have our old decorations, but now that we have a lot more space I need to figure out what to do with it.

It's been a YEAR!

I finally returned home from what seemed like the longest week ever. I came home just on time to celebrate our first anniversary! Since paper gifts are traditional, I decided to get Derek Spanish Grammar books so that he could learn Spanish. I know it’s an unromantic gift but inside the book, I printed out fake tickets to the Dominican Republic, redeemable upon completion of the books. Derek has talked about learning Spanish since we first started dating, so a trip to the native land should be great motivation. We plan to go with my brother and his family, he has all the connections on the island and the hotel prices are pretty inexpensive. I wanted to go on a trip before medical school and before we have children (Derek reefer’s to children as ‘goo factories’).
Later that day, Derek took me back to the Bountiful temple where he proposed and where we were married and told me all the things he that he loves about me. Afterwards we went to the Roof Restaurant, it was quiet romantic. I felt so loved. My husband is so cute. Just the day before he had eye surgery but he still managed to make sure we celebrated our anniversary. When we returned home we watched our wedding video even though Derek says I’ve watched it way too much this year…I guess it’s a girl thing, I love reliving our day!
I’m sorry but I’m computer illiterate and for some reason my photo bucket slide shows of our wedding will not show up. Check out my wedding album on shutterfly, I have it listed on the left column under Check out my Albums.

I was tagged...

5 things I was doing 10 years ago:

1. I would have just finished my Junior year in high school…and wondering why no one ever asked me out.
2. I was playing high school Tennis and running for student government…Again.
3. I was working at KB Toys Store at Valley Fair Mall.
4. I was preparing to attend the SOAR program at BYU with my best friend Susiane.
5. I was attending all the LDS Tongan dances, Polynesian functions with Susiane and Mele Tafua.

5 things on my To Do List:

1. Research possible careers as a Lawyer, contact lawyers and shadow throughout this month.
2. Push my husband to complete his internship & shadowing to submit his primary medical school applications.
3. Manage budget and get my husband to follow it.
4. Pack for my family camping trip
5. Pack for week long business trip in Denver, CO.

5 favorite snacks or foods:

1. ANYTHING LoWFat (It’s sad that I don’t have the same fast metabolism most my immediate family members have
2. Watermelon and Pineapple
3. Otai…a Tongan fruit drink
4. If calories didn’t make me break out in fat I would be pigging out on Pizza…
5. Stacy’s cookies and Ice cream

5 things I would do if I were a million air:

1. Pay off our student loans
2. Put my husband through Medical school and myself through through Law school
3. Invest it
4. Purchase a home & vehicle
5. Pay off my dad’s & grandma Nativa’s mortgage

5 bad habits that I have:

1. I expect too much of my husband…he should do things the way I do it.
2. I expect too much out of my mother’s family, I need to realize that I can’t change people I need to focus on myself and my family.
3. I complain, I cry, I get frustrated about my weight…I no longer fit in the some of the pants I wore before I got married. I don’t even have a baby or anything to show for it
4. I stress out about the future…will I be a good wife, mom, and Lawyer? Will our children turn out o.k in the world we live in?
5. I can be too straight forward, the other day I told a man who looked 25 to stop checking out my 12 year old sister. I didn’t just tell him, I said it loud enough for all of Wal-mart to hear.

4 places I have lived.

1. Oakland, Hayward, Concord, (California as a missionary)
2. San Jose, Costa Rica (as an Intern)
3. Taylorsville
4. Salt Lake City

Update

I'm not so good at blogging our latest adventures. I need to get a new cord for my camera so that I can have them to post rather than finding random pictures online to go along with my story. So here are the latest adventures listed in chronological order.

5/15/08 My husband convinced me to purchase bikes. I was never into biking but I figured that it would be a good investment on our health. My husband dosn't like to run with me so I decided to take up his favorite hobby to compromise. We also purchased clipless petals, shoes for the clipless petals, a bike rack, and a camelbak.

5/24/08 We attended our friend Umu's wedding. She is a friend I met at the University of Utah, we traveled to Tonga together and we kept in touch during my mission. It's nice to take my husband to Tongan functions, my family is really Americanized including myself so it's not often that we get to attend such functions.

5/26/08 As I drove my 1989 Toyota Camery to work, I noticed that it was billowing smoke every where. It was embarassing but I was running late as usual so I drove it anyway. The next day the smoke disappeared so I assumed it was o.k...Wrong more smoke came out. I guess I can't deny it anymore, we need a new car. Meanwhile, I'll ride my bike to work. I need the extra excersize and I need to get used to my clip less petals.

5/29/08 My sisters Kura and Nia came down to visit from Georgia! Nia is 6'0 she is sooo tall! Her doctor told her that she will continue to grow, hopefully not too much taller.

5/31/08 We attended Yennifer's wedding. I met her while I was traveling abroad in Panama. We've been buddies ever since and we were honored to be invited to her wedding. (in utah of course)

6/1/08 We visited the Cazeau family as usual. Stacy baked us a cake in celebration of our birthdays. My birthday is June 2nd, Derek's birthday is June 8th and our first wedding anniversary is June 28th! We had a great time with our family, especially the boys, they are so entertaining.

Pictures to come as soon as I buy a cord.
